Job Requirements

You should have met the following criteria: –

  • Relevant Degree in Technology / Information Systems Management / Computer Science
  • Minimum 1 year of working experience as a software engineer; or
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in leading a technical engineering team; or
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in managing Agile/SCRUM teams

Ideally, you would possess the following traits: –

  • Proficient in Project Management methodologies
  • Proficient in planning and executing team processes
  • Proficient in team management
  • Have an appreciation of various types of team topologies and interfaces.
  • Be efficient and well-organised;
  • Strong communicator, and able to influence others

  • Able to identify and work with different team dynamics.
  • Able to help teams identify and eliminate inefficiencies.

Scope of Work

As an Engineering Manager, you will manage the team(s) assigned to your charge, ensuring that they have the clarity, resources, and competencies needed to accomplish their respective business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Planning
    • Identify team responsibilities within the organization
    • Define team structure and roles with these teams
    • Identify resource gaps
    • Identify and refine team processes
    • Identify and refine team interfaces
    • Identify and provision needed tools and licences
    • Support the team in ensuring that their backlog items are well executed
  • Team Management
    • Perform performance reviews
    • Perform one-on-one check-ins
    • Support in the hiring of engineers
    • Identify conflicts and help with conflict resolution
    • Identify and eliminate inefficiencies within the teams
  • SCRUM
    • Champion Agile/SCRUM culture and capabilities within the organization.
    • Conduct internal SCRUM training sessions.
    • Coach teams to become self-managed, high-performing teams.
    • Conduct coaching sessions to SCRUM Masters
    • Provide individual Agile/SCRUM coaching where necessary
